Mrs. Mabel Lee DeVeuve
Mrs. Mabel Lee DeVeuve, 29, wife of Carl H. DeVeuve and daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lee, died Thursday afternoon at 12:40 o'clock in the Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg. Death was due to abscess of the liver. She had been in poor health for some time, although her condition did not become serious until two weeks before her death. She went to the hospital on Thursday, August 7.
Mrs. DeVeuve was born at Plattsburg, August 27, 1895, daughter of Sam and Almina Lee. When she was five months old she moved with her parents to Keeseville where the family resided for three years before coming to Massena Her father conducted a laundry on Water Street until a few weeks ago and she helped him in the business.
She was married February 6, 1916, Plattsburg. Since her marriage she had lived in Mechanicsville and places in Massachusetts and Canada until coming here nearly a year ago.
Mrs. DeVeuve was a member of the Advent Christian church. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Marjorie, who was seven years of age on the day Mrs. DeVeuve died, and Beulah Louise, aged 16 months; her parents; two sisters, Miss Beulah Lee and Mrs. Ollle Bray, of Massena; and one brother, Miles Lee, of Mechanicsville.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home on North Main Street and at 2 o'clock from the Advent Christian church, Rev. George H. Stone officiating. Burial was made at Pine Grove cemetery.
