Army Sgt. James M. Clay, 25, of Mountain Home, Ark.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas Army National Guard, Little Rock, Ark.; died Nov. 13 in Anbar province, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. He is the son of James E. and Jackie (Quinn) Clay. He married Mellissa Dewey on Nov. 10, 2007, in Mountain Home; where she survives. He attended the First Assembly of God Church, Mountain Home. He entered the service January of 2002 and became a part of the 224th Maintenance Company Headquartered in Mountain Home, Ark. While deployed he was assigned to Company B, 2nd BN, 153rd IN of the 39th Infantry Brigade. Also surviving are his mother, Jackie Clay of Fort Wayne; five sisters, Melissa Quinn of Mountain Home, Ali Ojeda, Taylor Clay, Bailey Whitacre, and Haley Whitacre, all of Fort Wayne; paternal grandfather, Jack Clay; maternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Sam and Phyllis Quinn of Middlesboro, Ky.; maternal grandmother, Bonnie McDonald; aunts and uncles, Rickie (Michelle) Quinn, John Parker, Jeff (Brenda) Parker, and Michelle Parker (fiance, Kevin Bedwell), and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Clay; and grandmother, Elizabeth M. Clay (who raised him after his father's passing). Funeral service was at First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Mike Howell officiating. Visitation was with the family receiving friends at Roller Funeral Home. Interment in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to the Mellissa M. Clay Benefit Fund at First Security Bank. Arrangements by Roller Funeral Home.
