Norma McConnell Ellsworth, daughter of the late Arthur McConnell and Gracie Williams McConnell was born on May 4, 1921 in Malden and died at her residence in Dexter, on March 1, 2010 at the age of 88.
Mrs. Ellsworth was a former member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter where she was an active participant as long as her health permitted. She worked at the Malden Airbase for 15 years. She was also formerly employed at the Division of Family Services in Bloomfield for 17 years. Norma was very literary minded. She loved to write poems and articles which also included two books. Mrs. Ellsworth was a resident of Southeast Missouri all of her life.

On Oct. 31, 1945 she was united in marriage to Wilburn Ellsworth. Mr. Ellsworth preceded her in death on May 1, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Ellsworth and Mike Ellsworth and wife Carolyn, both of Dexter; by one daughter, Linda Kay Owens and husband Roy of Valley, Ala.; also by 10 grandchilden, nine great-granchildern, three step-granchildren, six step-great-granchildern and one step-great-great-granchild.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, John Ellsworth; also by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday March 4, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter. A private interment will follow on Friday, March 5, 2010 in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery in Dexter.
