Mother of Freda, Genevieve, Harry, Charles and Shirley Patricia.
Sylvia was a "multi generational" favorite aunt, loved for her caring ways and wonderful sense of humor. She was "with it" til she drew her last breath.
The following from the Pocahontas (IA) Record of October 1, 1908 reports the marriage of a popular young lady and a former resident of Henning:Harry E Lewis and Miss Sylvia A Battershell were quietly married at eight o'clock Tuesday morning, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr and Mrs S Battershell, by Rev E S Benjamin.Immediately after the ceremony the young couple was taken to Gilmore City where they left for Des Moines, Peoria and Springfield, Ill to spend a few days. They will be at home to their friends after October 15 in Champaign, Ill, where Mr Lewis has accepted a good position. These young people are well and favorably known to many of our readers as they have made their home here for several years. Harry Lewis is an industrious young man, of excellent habits, who has made many friends since he has lived here, and his bride is an exceptionally bright and lovable young woman of sterling character, who will be a fit life companion for him.The Record extends its heartiest congratulations and joins with many friends in wishing Mr and Mrs Lewis a long and happy married life.
