CLAREMORE — Services for Essie Miller Oliver, 99, Claremore, formerly of Ada, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Oliver died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, in Claremore. She was born July 10, 1909, at Stonewall, to Walter Edwin and Nellie Dee Henderson Miller.

She attended schools at Stonewall, Ahloso, Union Hill, Horace Mann and graduated from Ada High School.

She married Hillard Wood Oliver Oct. 9, 1929, at Atoka. He died May 3, 1992.

Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker but worked at the East Columbia Department Store in downtown Los Angeles, Calif., during the war years. She was a member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Ada and the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Estil Hillard Oliver in 2001, three sisters, Ruby Dell McFarland, Isabell McNinch, and Cecil Blankenship, and three brothers, Clifford Miller, J.W. "Dub" Miller and Edwin Miller.
