Mrs. Kristy Michelle (Thaxton) Martin, age 39, of Winnfield, LA, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Mrs. Martin was employed by the LaSalle Parish School Board where she was a special education teacher at Jena High School. She was a graduate of McNeese State University and a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Mrs. Martin loved her students that she taught at Jena High School.
She is survived by her husband, Jed Martin of Winnfield, LA; Two Sons, Breland Martin of Winnfield, LA and Cole Martin of Winnfield, LA;
Her Parents, F.C. Thaxton and Donna (Doughty) Thaxton of Jena, LA; Her Father and Mother-In-Law, Thomas Jerry and Patsy (Mixon) Martin of Winnfield, LA; One Brother, Kelvin Thaxton of Jena, LA; Her Grandmother, Mildred Thaxton of Jena, LA; Niece, Tiffany Thaxton of Jena, LA;
Nephew, J.C. Thaxton of Jena, LA; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.
Kristy was preceded in death by her grandparents, D. J. and Doris Doughty and Rev. Bernice Thaxton; and her niece, Kelsey Thaxton.
Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, LA, where the family will receive friends from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, November 14, 2008 and from 8:00 AM to service time Saturday, November 15, 2008. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Winnfield at 10:00 AM Saturday, with Rev. Eddie Thompson and Rev. Stephen Laughlin officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Winnfield, LA.
Christopher Black, Glenn "Slick" Joiner, Philip "Red" Tarver, Jason Shelton, Stan Ratcliff, and Cody Compton will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Corley, Justin Black, Ethan Austin, Evan Austin, and L.C. Barnett.
