The mother of Patrick Henry (1736-1799)

Sarah was the daughter of Isaac Winston and his wife Mary Dabney of Hanover County.

She married first Col. John Syme and had a son by him, John Syme, Jr. After the death of Colonel Syme she then married John Henry and they had eleven children.

Her son Patrick Henry was born at Studley on May 29, 1736 (the house is no longer standing), in Hanover County, he was the second son of the Henrys. Two of the Henry children died at young ages leaving two sons and seven daughters in the family.
