She was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Rosewood, the daughter of the late John and Carrie (Davis) Small.
On Oct. 31, 1941, she married Charles E. VanHorn, who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2004.
She is survived by four children, Mrs. Jack (Alma) Freistuhler of Maplewood, Larry VanHorn and his wife, Becky, of Sidney, Mike VanHorn of Sidney, and Mrs. Franz (Missy) Gantner of West Jefferson; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great -grandchildren; and a brother, Ellsworth Small, of Sidney.
A son, Steven VanHorn, four brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. VanHorn was a homemaker, and a member of the Madison Avenue Church of God in Piqua. She also was a den mother for the Cub and Boy Scouts.
A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Milthaler officiating. Burial will be at Fletcher Cemetery in Fletcher.
