Will Ward was born in Prescott, Ark. and lived there with his step-mother and father until he was 14 when he hopped a train to Chicago. There he was an apprentice to an iron molder and after several years he returned to Texas where he plied his trade, first in east Texas and later in Ft. Worth. While in Ft. Worth he lived in a boarding house on Throckmorton St. where he met and married Christine B. Foshall. Together they raised 9 children to adulthood -- 6 boys and 3 girls. Charley died as a baby at about a year old. Many of the Ward family are buried in the historic Oakwood Cemetery north of the Tarrant Co. Court House. Will owned a concession store on Throckmorton, near the boarding house. For Christine's 50th birthday in 1925 he built her a house on View St. in Meadowbrook where they lived. He died of a heart attack while tending his garden there.
