Mr. Robert Matthew Miller, Jr. was born January 30, 1926 in Witchita Falls. He was one of four children born to the marriage of Robert Matthew and Pearl Hughes Miller, Sr. Robert married Helen Gertrude Chandler in 1945. He enlisted to serve his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. His active duty service included serving in the Battle of the Buldge, where he received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. Miller worked as a truck driver, later working in the cement industry for Witchita Falls Sand and Gravel and ended working for Express Ready Mix in Shreveport. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Shreveport, the V.F.W. Lodge in both Shreveport and Carthage and a member of Northside Christian Center, in Carthage. He was a loving man placing God, his Country and family above all else. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Helen G. Chandler Miller; daughter Mary Lou Miller; step-daughter Loretta Mauldin; great-grandson Jacob Matthew Doyle; and siblings Irene Chumley, Mildred Clements and Charlie Miller.
Survivors include son Roy Miller and wife Carol, of Shreveport; daughter Helen Miller, of Carthage; grandchildren Robert Miller and wife Ashley, of Ashland, Ohio, Ann Marie Frost and husband James, of Signal Mountain, TN, Melissa Bequette and husband Reverend Aaron, of Carthage, Sherrie Lee Mauldin, of NC, Angie Lance and husband Cory, of Haughton, and Mike Mauldin, of Shreveport; great-grandchildren Brooke Kennedy, Robert William Miller, Ian Christopher Miller, Callie Doyle, Sarah Bequette and Andrew Bequette; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Doyle, Andrew Bequette, Roy Miller, Wendell Watson, Mark Peloquin, Wayne Mauldin and Mike Mauldin.
