Son of Alice Buford/Beauford (1867-1899) and William Jack Marcum (1860-1914). He had 3 brothers and sisters (Daisy Julia marcum Harris, Elias Beauford Marcum and Bertha Markham) and 8 half brothers and sisters (Oscar Marhkam, Jesse Edward Markham, Cora Markham, Martha "Mattie" Lester Markham, Benton Riley Markham, William Medicus "Meck" Markham, Blanche Elizabeth Markham and Annie Delma "Dell" Markham.

Winfield was the grandson of Civil War Soldier (Battle of Olustee) William Arthur Markham/Marcum married Martha Rosetta Douberley on 22 August 1854, Lake City, FL. She was born 11 October 1839 in South Carolina.

Winfield was the great grandson of Reithy Roberts Marcum and William W. Marcum/Markham, pioneer settlers of Alachua County (the portion that is now Columbia County, FL).
