Samuel Hall, Jr., was a soldier during the American Revolution with the North Carolina Militia. After the war he married Letitia Hendricks on 17 Sept. 1784, in Elkville, North Carolina. Later he and the family migrated to the new lands of Tennessee, and was one of, if not the, first settlers in Morgan county in 1807. His farm was located about 7 miles NE of Wartburg. He lived there until his death. He had a twin brother David (1760- 1842)

Sam and Letitia were blessed with eight children, Garret in 1785, Luke 1786, Mary in 1788, Allie in 1790, David in 1794, Elizabeth in 1796, and a set of twins, Elisha and Elija in 1799.
