Once more death has visited in my life and took my friend and neighbor. A phone call came last Thursday telling me Mabel Alls had passed away at 10:15 in a Newport hospital.
She was a Christian wife, mother, and friend and wherever she went she made friends.
She is survived by her husband, Willie; eight sons, Charley, Richard, Wilson, Jerry, John, Billy, Robert and Carl; six daughters, Marie, Faye, Opal, Lois, Opha, and Jennie Lee.
May God bless, comfort and keep each one of this family is my prayer. I, too, shall miss her every day but I am thankful I had a friend named Mabel Alls. Her memory shall always be precious to me.
(Excerpt from article by Mrs. Frankie Huskey in the Lawrence County Times Dispatch May 25, 1967.)

Mabel is gone to return no more and at the age of 63 years, so joyous, so youthful and pure heart full of youth's sweet gladness on her lips, life's pleasant songs half sung.
(Excerpt from obituary in Lawrence County Times Dispatch May 25, 1967.)
