Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Collier Butler Funeral Home for Iantha Griffin Beck, 87, Glencoe, who passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Frank Samuels and David Denson will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Beck was a native of Clay County and a resident of Etowah County for more than 60 years. Mrs. Beck retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company with 40 years service. She was a current member of College Heights Baptist Church and a charter member of North Glencoe Baptist Church. She had a passionate love for children and of Gospel music. She will always be remembered for her sweet and generous spirit.
Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her husband, George O. Beck; her beloved grandson, Lee Wills; and also by her parents; one sister; and four brothers.
She is survived by her son, Larry Beck (Katrina), Helena; daughter, Barbara Wills (Rick), Glencoe; grandchildren, Cory Wills (April), Amy Barkley (Scott), Taylor Wills, Heather Letts (Jason), Lindsey Abbott (Heath), Tonya Lagrone (Neal) and Todd Beck (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Rylee and Jackson Barkley, Lyric Letts, Madison and Mallory Lagrone, and Jacob Beck; brothers-in law, Arland and Jewel Beck; sisters-in-law, Norma and Bonnie Beck and Sally Griffin; numerous nieces and nephews; and a great host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Cory Wills, Taylor Wills, Todd Beck, Scott Barkley, Tony Griffin and John Triplett. Honorary pallbearers are the many children who have been cared for and loved by Mrs. Beck over the many years.
The family would like to thank the hospice staff of Alacare for their kindness and dedication and a special thanks to caregiver and friend, Linda Davis.
The family appreciates either flowers or donations to College Heights Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
