Thomas Milton DuBose was one of twelve children born to Marion Baylor DuBose and Frances Elizabeth Allen. Marion was a teamster and transported goods from Mexico to Texas. The family also were itenerate farm workers and moved from one farming community to another to pick crops.

Thomas was in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930's where he helped the forestry service to build roads and plant trees in the Sam Houston National Forest.

Thomas served in the Army during World War II from August 22, 1942 to April 16, 1943, when he was honorably discharged to serve his country in private industry. Thomas had many jobs during his lifetime, including trucker, security guard, and stock farmer.

Thomas was married to Lena Mae Smith on May 5, 1922. They had six children, 1 was still born. Tom and Lena's children were Lena Frances (1923), Bryan Milton (1924), Ellen Ollie (1925), Edmond Harvey (1927), Orben Ray (1928), and Otha Wayne (still born in 1930).
Thomas married Marietta Smith in 1942. They had no children. Thomas remarried Lena Mae Smith on August 29, 1966. They lived in a small woodframe house where the fire station now stands in "downtown" Montgomery.
