Actor. After graduating from the University of Southern California, he started acting, appeared at the old Salt Lake Theatre in stage play "The Copperhead" and went on to New York being featured in Broadway productions. He made his big screen debut in "Public Enemy" (1931) and was noted for his role as Matt Doyle opposite Jimmy Cagney's role of gangster Tom Powers. His other film credits included "Dinner at Eight" (1934), "Tarzan the Fearless" (1933), "The Fighting Lady" (1935) and "Shadows Over Shanghai "(1938). During World War II, he worked with actor Ronald Reagan making training films for the U.S Army. After his film career, he went into producing, directing, and theatrical management, working for 20th Century Fox, retiring in 1975.
