Ella Laura Pennington (1914-2006)
Ella Laura Dalton Pennington, 92, of Westwood, Ky., died Saturday evening in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.Ella was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late William Russell and Hattie Rice Dalton. She attended Sheridan Freewill Baptist Church and Mavity Freewill Baptist Church.Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pennington in 1996.Surviving are three daughters, two with whom she resided, Louella and husband, Larry Kelley of Ironton, Ohio, and Hattie and husband, Paul Baldridge of Ashland, Ky., and Henrietta Gullett of Westwood; a grandson whom she raised, Frank Gullett of Westwood; a sister-in-law, Betty Dalton of Westwood; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by the Rev. Randy Patrick and Greg Wells. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.Contributions may be made in Ella?s memory to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
