The Roster for the 27th Iowa says: Baird, Warren Age 34. Residence Allamakee County, nativity Ohio. Enlisted Aug. 14, 1862. Mustered Sept. 3, 1862. Died Nov. 13, 1863. Little Rock, Ark. Buried in National Cemetery, Little Rock, Ark.
He is listed in the Roll of Honor, Vol. 8, page 8 as being buried in the Little Rock National Cemetery.
I took a trip to the Little Rock National Cemetery and photographed his tombstone for myself. Even though the tombstone shows 29th Iowa, it has to be an error. I researched this soldier pretty extensively. All sources that I found indicated that he died Nov. 13, 1863 and is buried in Little Rock National Cemetery. Even the cemetery listing at the National Cemetery says he was in the 27th Iowa. The cemetery had no listing for a Warren Baird in 29th Iowa. AND I could find no soldier named Warren Baird in the 29th Iowa.
