Amos Tims and wife Sarah left Mississippi in 1884 and moved to Mt. Calm, TX by covered wagon, carrying their belongings and nine children. Around 1900, Amos established a mercantile business called A.T. Estes & Son in downtown Mt. Calm. Their sons Samuel Charner (Bud) and William Davis Estes each helped run the store at different times.
