Dick Gilliland, 74, of Rt. 2, Temple died in a Temple hospital after a long illness. Mr. Gilliland was married to Miss Rufie Wheeler March 9, 1919, at Friendship. He lived in Academy since 1943. He was a retired steamfitter and a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Academy.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Estel Ray Gilliland of Rt. 2, Temple; a daughter, Mrs. John Hagler (Dixie), of Rt. 2, Temple; and three grandchildren : Glenn Hagler, Keith Hagler, and Chris Gilliland. A son and granddaughter died previously.
