COOPER — J. B. Acker, 61, of Cooper, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Van George, of Ben Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Acker was born in Dike, on July 8, 1921, a son of Julius Acker and Annie Young Acker. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and worked as a mechanic in Cooper. He married Coy Mae Blackburn on Sept. 15,1967.

Survivors include his wife, of Cooper; two sons, Kim Acker, of California and Tim Acker of Houston; six daughters, Jaynelle Acker, Anita Webb, Joanna Acker and Dena Yondell, all of California; Jay Lynn Haggard and Kathy Skinner, both of Garland; three brothers, Ray Acker, of Grand Prairie, Noble Acker, of Arlington and Julius Acker, Jr., of Columbus, Miss.; four sisters, Freda Gillean, of Fort Worth, Judy Schultz, of Pasadena, Ruby Dell Ainsworth, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Mary Lou Grayson, of Fort Worth and 15 grandchildren.
