Last rites were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday for Dan J. Carter, Delhi pioneer who died Saturday in an Elk City hospital.
He was born June 17, 1875 in Los Angeles, Calif. and came to western Oklahoma in 1901 and settled near Mangum. In 1905 he was married to Lillie Lee Veach of Mangum.
In 1906 he moved to the Delhi community where he lived until about four months ago when they moved to Sayre.
He was a member of the Delhi Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Carter of Sayre, three daughters, Mrs. Opal Irene Moore of Delhi, Mrs. Odell Skavinski of Hawthorne, Calif. and Mrs. Wilda Lou Lambertz of Eugene, Oregon; one son E. E. Carter of Clovis, New Mexico; two sisters, Mrs. Lou Allie Cole of Los Angeles, Mrs. Velma Hamilton of Richmond, Calif,; one brother, J. M. Carter of Altus, 10 grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
Services were held at 2:30 Monday at the Delhi Baptist church with the Rev. Whitley Garrett officiating. Burial was in the Delhi cemetery with the Moore Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Casketbearers were Henry Lowrance, Ray McSpadden, Alford Davis, Marion Ford, Foy Prather,
