Woodrow Wilson Claunch, 92, of Weatherford died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at a local nursing facility.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephens Catholic Church with Father Casey officiating. Interment: East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
He was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Weatherford to Ebb and Lillie Claunch. Woodrow was a master carpenter and retired in the early 1980s as superintendent with Thos. S. Byrnes and was a rancher for numerous years. He was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church, the carpenters local and was a master Mason for 50 years with Lodge #275. Woodrow was a devoted husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Maria Debesa Claunch; his parents; sisters, Faye Claunch Alexander and Marie Mason; brother-in-law, Robert Alexander; and his brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Claunch.
Survivors: Daughter, Shirley Archer of Abilene; grandchildren, Todd Whetsel and wife, Terri, of Corpus Christi and Kristi Cheek and husband, Brad, of Abilene; great-grandsons, Hunter Whetsel, Shiloh Whetsel, Chase Whetsel, Casey Cheek and Matthew Cheek; nieces, Barbara Rumfield and husband, Ray, of Weatherford and Maria York of Fort Worth; nephew, Manuel Debesa of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Maruja Debesa of Weatherford; cousins, Bob Claunch of Mississippi and Perry Claunch; and Woodrow's special friend, Jeline Webb of Weatherford.
