Opal Cleo Cope was born December 3, 1924, in Monet, Arkansas, the daughter of Clarence Jones and Rosa Arlee (Medley) Hill and died October 14, 2008, in Purcell, Oklahoma.
She and Fred Cope were married March 25, 1942, in Alex, Oklahoma, where they farmed for several years before moving to the Duncan area for ten years and then returned to the Alex Community in 1959. She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Larisa Chitwood; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include her husband, Fred Cope of Alex; two daughters: Elanna Chitwood of Alex, and, Alfreda Matthews of Oklahoma City; three grandsons: Larry and Chris Matthews and Phillip Chitwood; one granddaughter: Kelle Gibson; and 12 great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Published in The Chickasha Express Star from 10/16/2008 - 10/18/2008
