"Pvt. Hanners was among the 1,138 casualties aboard the HMT Rohna, part of a convoy on the way from Oran to the Far East via the Suez Canal. It was sunk in the Mediterranean Sea near Bejaia, Algeria, by German Luftwaffe. It was the first casualty of a guided missile."
