AMBOY, July 20-John Patchen, and old resident of Amboy aged 85 years died of old age week before last. Funeral services were held July 12th at 2 o'clock P. M. in the M. E. Church at Amboy Centre, Elder Davey presiding. The attendance was large. Mr. Patchen was well known here. He was born and lived and died upon the same farm about two miles from Amboy Centre. He taught school many terms in his younger days and was a self made man, honest and upright in all his dealing. He led a Christian life and died in the hopes of immortality. His remains were laid at rest by the side of his late wife in the cemetery at Amboy Centre. He leaves a son and a daughter and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
