Lester A. Worcester, 89, a resident of Windsor for the past 39 years, formerly of Meriden, died on Saturday (November 8, 2008) at the Windsor Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.


He was born and educated in Columbia Falls, ME, a son of the late Alden and Laura (Mawhinney) Worcester and was a graduate of Columbia Falls High School. Lester was employed for over 35 years with Pratt & Whitney Corporation until his retirement in 1981 as a source inspector. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. Some of Lester's favorite pastimes included his love of the outdoors where he enjoyed working in the yard, spending time in his woodworking shop and most importantly being with family and friends.


He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Della I (Goodwin) Meeks Worcester; two loving daughters, Nancy J. DePino and her husband Joseph of Wallingford, and Laura M. Opalski and her husband Joseph of Durham; a brother, Alden Worcester of Harrington, ME; a sister, Caroline "Kay" Driscoll of Lincoln, ME; five grandchildren, Scott E. Carlin, Kimberly A. Carlin, Christopher J. Carlin, Lisa M. Opalski and Deborah J. Opalski as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six siblings.


His Funeral will be held on Monday evening, November 10, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue in Windsor.
A private burial will take place in Old St. Andrews Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends and Relatives may call at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4 - 7 p.m.
