Mrs. Abel died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
She was born March 16, 1947, in Lawrence, the daughter of Alvis C. and Darlene F. Wilbur May.
She had lived most of her life in the Perry area. She graduated in 1965 from Perry Rural High School. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Abel worked at Hallmark Cards in Lawrence for several years. She also worked as a teacher's aide in Lawton, Okla.
She recently had worked at the Jim Lobb Dairy in rural Oskaloosa and had worked for two years for Hupe Farms in Perry.
She was a member of Williamstown Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Aglow organization in Lawrence.
She was a longtime supporter of Jefferson County 4-H and served as the bucket calf leader for the Billtown Go-Getters Club.
She married Duane E. Abel on March 6, 1966, at Williamstown. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her mother, Darlene F. May, Perry; two sons, Jacob Wesley Abel and Daniel Jermay Abel, both of the home; a daughter, Rebecca Jean Bodine, Topeka; a brother, David T. May, Eudora; and three sisters, Theresa King, Wichita, Donna Picolet, Oskaloosa, and Pauline King, Lecompton.
