Jacob Alexander Nisbet, 20, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. His adventure started when he rushed into the world on March 8, 1988, and he never stopped. He enjoyed life and loved to travel. He visited London, Europe, Puerto Rico, several states, and most recently Mexico. New York was his favorite city, where he tried to visit as much as possible. He was the life of the party with his engaging personality, his loving smile, and his sense of humor. He loved to play the piano. He was an athletic person, who enjoyed soccer, tennis, and skiing. He graduated Valedictorian in 2006 from Phoebus High School. Jacob received an academic scholarship from the College of William and Mary. His listening skills gained him many friends in both high school and in college. He loved the College of William and Mary because of his many friends he met and the knowledge he gained from his professors. During his sophomore year, he continued to maintain a GPA of 3.42 and still socialized with his family and friends while going through chemotherapy. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving parents, Edward and Carmen; his brother, Jonathan; his parental grandparents, Art and Stefania; his maternal grandparents; Manuel and Obdulia Torres; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Fleming, Denise Stanfield, Dr. Kruger, everyone at the Virginia Oncologist Associates, Dr. Levy and the Oncologist unit from Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Oncologist unit from the Hampton Sentara Complex, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and Personal Touch for their loving support during Jacob's courageous fight.
He is at peace now and he will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; c/o Jacob Nisbet Memorial Fund; 27 West Queens Way, Suite 301; Hampton, VA 23669.
