COOPER, MARTHA WETHINGTON "MARTY," 84, passed away Friday, October 31, 2008 at Norton Hospital. She was born April 29, 1924 in Brown's Valley, KY and raised in Huntington, WV. She moved to Louisville as a young adult where she met and married her loving husband of 60 years, Charles W. Cooper Jr. Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker for many years and also worked in retail at Bacon's Department Store, and then as a unit secretary at our Lady of Peace Hospital where she retired at the age of 65. She continued to be active in her church (St. Martha) and in a number of social and charitable organizations. In addition to her husband, Charlie, Mrs. Cooper is survived by her nine children, Judy Heitzman (Tony), Chuck Cooper (Jeanie), Dave Cooper, Gina Nethery (Mark), all of Louisville, Vicki Rommel (Geoffrey) of Naperville, IL, Mary DeLetter (Paul) of Lexington, KY, Greg Cooper (Maria) of Ormskirk, England, Tina Merk (John), of Floyds Knobs, IN, and Joe Cooper (Ed Pon), of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by two siblings, Chuck Wethington, of Louisville; and sister, Ursula Wethington, of Wheeling, WV. Mrs. Cooper will also be lovingly remembered by her 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass in Mrs. Cooper's honor will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held noon-8 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2008 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, with a vigil service to be held at 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy should be directed to the Right to Life Campaign and the Southeast Associated Ministries (S.E.A.M.).
