A life-long resident of Washington, D.C., she was a graduate of Dunbar High School. For 30 years she worked in the Physical Therapy Unit of Freedman's Hospital, and during WW II, she worked with the womens' auxiliary of the U.S. Army. While stationed at Ft. Huachuca, AZ, she rolled bandages that were supplied to the wounded overseas.
Survivors include her younger brother, James H. Barnes and niece, Aloma J. Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas F. Barnes & Blanche H. Penn, and older brother, Thomas Barnes, Jr.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday, June 28, 2007.
