Flora S. Chambers, 84, of Eldora died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at her home under hospice care.

Born in Eldora, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Hattie Bennett Sutton, and the wife of the late Howard G. Chambers. She was a lifetime resident of Eldora, and a member of Eldora United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and continued working there in the operating room for a year. She then worked at Woodbine Developmental Center from 1947 to 1952, and then worked at Millville Hospital, serving as a supervisor, operating room nurse, charge nurse and lastly as an emergency room nurse, retiring in 1988. She and her husband were part owners of Howfred's Diner on Route 47 in Millville from 1950-56. Mrs. Chambers loved traveling and was a member of the Nature Conservancy.

Surviving are her children, Wayne H. Chambers of Princeton, Brian G. Chambers of Eldora, and Eileen C. Hoffman and her husband Paul of Eldora; sister, Helen S. Wolf and her husband Fred of Eldora; grandchildren, Amanda S. Hoffman of Massachusetts and Aaron T. Hoffman, at home; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Homes, 643 Main St., Leesburg, with the Rev. Don McMahon officiating.

Interment will be at Eldora Methodist Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
