A lifelong Hood County resident, Willie Mae Purselley, 92, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008, in Glen Rose. Funeral services were held Monday morning at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial was in Nubbin Ridge Cemetery in Hood County.
Willie Mae Hayworth was born September 10, 1916, in Hood County, to Alan Jackson Hayworth and Rebecca Clifton Hayworth. She married William Thomas "Bud" Purselley, April 21, 1935, in Granbury. She was a member of Acton Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She loved to fish, work in her garden, crochet, knit and write poetry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers; five sisters; and a granddaughter, Tracy Gai Baker in 2001.
Survivors are her son, Jon Allen Purselley and wife, Judy, of Roswell, N.M.; daughters, Barbara Lusk and husband Ted, Jan Tumlinson and Grace Qualls, all of Acton; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Darance Jackson of Granbury; and several sisters-in-law.
Final arrangements were by Wiley Funeral Home.
