On April 2, 1902, he was united in marriage to Maude Steele and to this union three children were born, Ralph of Topeka; Mrs. Grace Kraushaar and Robert of Manhattan.
Mr. Cain had been in failing health for the past twelve years. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Vermillion.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his loss three grandchildren Billy, Phyllis and Paul Cain of Topeka; five brothers, John of Ogden, Utah; Mike of California; Jim of South Dakota; Frank of Centralia; and Elmer of Garden City. One sister, Mrs. Josephine Roberts of Topeka, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and was highly respected by all and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.D. Stevens of Vermillion, assisted by Rev. D.D. Hall of Manhattan, on Saturday afternoon at 2:30, at Westmoreland, Kansas, at the Westmoreland Methodist church. He was laid to rest in the Westmoreland cemetery. The pallbearers were: Lloyd, Ralph and Raymond Hops, Elmer Hammarlund, Don Clary and Everett Warner.
Not thus his nobler part shall dwell,
A prisoner in his narrow cell;
But he who now we hide from men,
In the dark ground shall live again,
Shall break these clods a form of light
With nobler mien and purer sight;
An in eternal glory stand
Highest and nearest God's right hand
