Jane Kliphouse was the daughter of Berend Kliphouse and Jane Lustof. She came to the U.S. from the Netherlands as a young girl and settled with her family in Kalamazoo Michigan.
Jane was married for the first time to Theodore Leutwein on September 6, 1904 in Denver, Colorado. That marriage ended in divorce.
Jane late married Peter "Uncle Pete" J. Mahedy in Spokane Washington on October 1, 1915.
Jane and Peter Mahedy lived in Salt Lake City, Utah in the 1920's and 1930's where Peter was a pullman for the railroad.
Aunt Jenny and Uncle Pete raised their niece and nephew, Jean and Josephine Hause in Santa Monica, CA, after Jane's sister, Helen Kliphouse Hause, passed away in SLC in 1922. The couple had no children of their own.
My favorite memory of Aunt Jenny was her cat. I remember as a very young child crawling under the bed in the guest room and sleeping with her kitty.
