Born in Westgate to Ralph and Vella Adkisson, LuVerne was the second of eight children. His father Ralph died in 1936 and LuVerne left school to take a job and support the family.
LuVerne is a World War II Army veteran. He was a machinist for John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo until his retirement in 1975. Gen and LuVerne enjoyed a long retirement at their home in Iowa and their winter community in Weslaco, Texas. He was a recent resident of Denver, Colo.
LuVerne is survived by Gen, his loving wife of 64 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Janice Davis (Thomas Davis) of Littleton, Colo., and Jonelle Adkisson of Centennial, Colo.; son Gary Adkisson (Paula Cotter) of Kennesaw, Ga.; and sister Margaret Buck of Waterloo.
His grandchildren are Matthew and Kevin Adkisson, Elizabeth and Hillary Davis, and Isabel Adkisson .
He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and his son Gene Adkisson.
