The daughter of William & Alianna "Aly Ann" (Hill) Armstrong of Franklin, Williamson Co TN, Virginia married John Davis Hardgrave on 5 Feb 1837 in Williamson Co TN, son of James & Almira (Dyer) Hardgrave of Williamson Co TN.

Virginia and Davis relocated to Johnson Co AR, bought farmland and had at least six children, two sons and four daughters. In both 1850 and 1860 they resided in Horsehead Creek Twp in Johnson Co AR. By the 1870 Census, the family had moved to Grant Twp in Clarksville, also in Johnson Co AR.
