Died, at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 24, 1901, at his home, Lawn Grove, one and a quarter miles east of Springfield, George Bergen, aged 77 years. Mr. Bergen was born in New Jersey and had resided upon the farm where he died the last sixty years. He was a bachelor. His brother, Thomas H. Bergen, and his sister, Mrs. Catherine Jones, together with a nephew, J. Bergen Jones, made their home with him. Besides them he is survived by a number of nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the residence at Lawn Grove. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 3-25-1901
