Ona B. Bishop, 85, of Bloomfield, formerly of Flora Vista, went home to be with her Jesus on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Life Care Nursing Home in Farmington. Ona was born April 14, 1923, in May, Texas, to Joe Brown and Mattie Killion.

In 1940, she married the love of her life, Toral "Bud" Bishop. In 1957, they moved to Flora Vista, where they made their home and raised four children. Ona was a loving mother and a dedicated Christian who asked everyone she met, "Do you know my Jesus?" She loved to quilt, cook, garden and go rock hunting. Up until her health crippled her, she belonged to the San Juan County Gem and Mineral Society and the Iris Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; daughter, Barbara Jean Foutz; and son, Troy Bishop.

Ona is survived by her children, Ronald Bishop and wife, Yvonne, of Midland, Texas, Thurman Bishop and wife, Mitzi, of Bloomfield; and by daughter-in-law, Connie Bishop, of Bloomfield. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Mike, Floyd and Troy Foutz, Joe, Don and Steve Bishop, Milissa Williams, Melanie Zellner, Stacy Dodd, Bridget Bauman, and Aaron Bishop; by 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Baylows Brown.

Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 7, at the Alternative Choice Chapel.

A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Calvary Baptist Church in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Jennings Hamilton officiating.
A private family burial will be Monday, Nov. 10, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington.
