Died aged 18 years and 6 months, scarce 8 weeks a wife, on a bridal visit to her connections by marriage at the residence of Mrs. Jane B. Evans in Marion, SC, on the 30th June 1856.

Isabella and Col. Evans were married 6 May 1856 in Sandersville. Six weeks later on 30 June 1856, the young bride died of typhoid fever at the residence of Mrs. Jane Beverly (Daniel) Evans in Marion County, SC, where the young couple had gone on their wedding trip. She is buried in the Smith (Jordan) Cemetery in Washington Co., GA.
"The deceased united in her person
all those qualities that adorn a woman --
young, beautiful, lovely in character,
amiable in disposition, pious from a high sense of duty.
She was a dutiful daughter and an affectionate wife,
and the center of a large circle of fond and devoted friends --
in the bloom of youth and health bright with the hopes of the future.
In the short space of six weeks she was led to the altar and consigned to the tomb.
Still o'er these scenes my mem'ry wakes
And fondly broods with miser care,
Time but the impression deeper makes,
As streams their channels deeper wear,
O Bella! dear departed shade,
Where is thy place of blissful rest,
See'st thou thy lover lowly laid
Hear'st thee ...[broken gravestone]."
