Funeral service for Rubin Danial "Dan" Adkins, 76, of Sacul will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008, at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with Todd Muckleroy officiating. Burial will follow in McKnight Cemetery. Mr. Adkins died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2008, in Nacogdoches. He was born April 16, 1932, in Sale City, Georgia, to Rubin and Lois Hobbs Adkins. Mr. Adkins was Pentecostal and had lived in Sacul since 1970. He was a retired pipeline worker and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Adkins; son Joe Dan Adkins; brother, Charles Ray Adkins; and sister, Jean Vandagriff. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Victor Aguilar of Sacul, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Debbie Adkins of Central Heights, Texas; sister, Betty West of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Christie Weaver, Vikki Ward and husband, Ross, Ashley Adkins and Jodie Adkins.; and great-grandchildren, Camryn Weaver, Luke Ward and Alex Ward. Pallbearers will be Jerry Lyles, Rusty Williams, Duane Williams, Danny Vandagriff, Michael West and Ross Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Williams, Sidney Pye and Joe Messac.
