Martha Isabell Curbow was the daughter of Tilman P. Curbow and Elizabeth Box. She was the granddaughter of William Bolton Box. Belle, as she was called, spent most of her childhood in Itawamba County, Mississipi. She came to Texas with her family either right before or during the Civil War. At the tender age of 14 she married Charles C. Hodges in McLennan County, Texas. It is not known if Mr. Hodges died or whether the couple divorced. She married second to Johnathan Bedwell in McLennan County in 1876. The couple had four children: Olivia A., Albert C., William F. and James Monroe. After her husband's untimely death, she married third to Edward Henry Pressley in Sept 1884 in McLennan County, Texas. The couple had two children: Jennie Mae and Walter Gordon.
