Daughter of Henry and Catherine Searcy Knight.

Wife of James Edward Jones Sr., Joseph Samuel Cazier Sr., and Nephi Stewart or Stuart.

Sometime between 1860 and 1870, Rachel and her younger brother, Henry Clayton Knight came to Utah to live with Grandmother Eliza Green Knight. Rachel and Henry seem to have become orphans. Not much seems to be known about what happened to their parents Henry and Catherine Knight. It seems that all but two of Grandmother Eliza's living children came to Utah and some stayed and some moved on and settled elsewhere. Washington Lafayette Jolley Sr. seems to be the one instrumental in bringing the Knight family to Utah. When, why and how Rachel and Henry arrived seems to be a mystery.

Rachel married at least twice but had children with three different men. Her second husband Joseph Cazier seems to have disappeared sometime after his son Joseph Samuel was born. Rachel then is shown in 1900 as to having the last name of Stewart. She also had a son Henry in 1886 with a man Nephi Stewart. Nephi Stewart also seems to be a mystery as there is basically no record of him. This could be because Nephi was a middle name or as was the case when the census was taken, sometimes a first name was used in one census year while a middle name was used in another. There are no census records that show Rachel living with a Nephi Stewart.

I have been unable to locate a death certificate or any official documentation of Rachel's death. She is buried in an unmarked grave I am assuming near her brother Henry's family. Rachel's son Henry Stuart is also buried in an unmarked grave in the cemetery.

Rachel is my gg-grandmother. Very little is known about her. If you are related or have any information about her please email me.
