Wells Weaver Dies In California
Wells Franklin Weaver, resident of Star Valley, died November 27 in a Los Angeles hospital. His death was caused form complications of a heart attack suffered in January of this year. He had gone to California in May to stay with his daughter, Mrs George Miles, as it was thought the climate would by better for him. He was hospitalized early in November and after several operations his condition got worse instead of better.
Mr Weaver was born Sept 20, 1891 in Thayne. He was the son of George G. Weaver and Miriam Davis. He spent most of his life in Star Valley. His main occupation was cheese making. He moved to Freedom in 1918 working there until 1926. From there he was promoted to manager of the Auburn Creamery where he worked until 1931. Other jobs he held were railroad work, forest service work and working with local sheepmen.
He married Ozemba Dcgraw on June 26, 1912 in the Logan LDS Temple. To this union were born seven children. His wife, Ozemba and three children preceded him in death. Ozemba died in 1931.
He married Myrtle Steed October 10, 1933. To this union were born ten children, tow of which died in infancy.
The four surviving children of the first marriage are: Mrs Stanley (Fontella) Steed, Augurn; Mrs Glen (Virda) Holbrook, lima, Montana; Mrs George (Trilma) Miles, Whittier, Calif; Mrs Robert (Gayle) Hatch, Hahn Germany.
Surviving from his second marriage are his wife Myrtle and eight children; Garr Weaver, Modesto, Calif.; Mrs Tom (Garnetta) Harvey Burlingame, Calif.; Mrs Darrell (Beverly) Walker, Kearms, Utah; Claine Weaver, Naval Air Base George; Sharon, Betty, Jack and Clair of Afton. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and three sisters Mrs Mina Summers, Mrs Rachel Summers and Mrs Dora Kimball of Idaho Falls.
The funeral was held Monday December 21 at 1 p.,m. in the Afton First Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery with the Schwab Mortuary in charge.
Counselor Kenneth Jenkins conducted the services and members of the family served as pallbearers.
Out of town visitors besides the survivors already mentioned included: Mr and Mrs Richard Rapp, Elmer Summers, John Summers, of Idaho Falls; Arnold Summers, Ammon Idaho; and Emmet Summers of Rigby, Idaho.
