LAURA ELIZABETH HALLIWILL AULT
Laura Elizabeth, a daughter of James M. and Mary Ann (Lindsley) Halliwill, was the namesake of her grandmother, Elizabeth Eastman.

Laura and William Ault were united in marriage in 1869 by Mt Ward [Medina Co. Marriages, Vol. D, p243]. The newly wedded couple appeared on the 1870 US Census, Westfield, Medina Co., Ohio, p453A, line 14-15. AULT: William W. age 24, Real Estate value $0, personal value $300, born in Ohio. Laura E. age 21, keeping house, born in Ohio.

During the 1870s William Andrew attended Valpariso College in Valpariso, Indiana and graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1879. The family appears on the 1880 Federal Census, Westfield Twp., Medina Co., Ohio p443A, lines 21-23. Recorded 9 Jun 1880. AULT: William, age 34, married, farmer, born in Ohio, father Pennsylvania, mother Ohio. Laura wife, age 32, born in Ohio as were her parents. Charley son, age 9.

Laura died at age thirty-four and one-half years old, leaving a young widower. Census reports verify the birth a son, Charles, born 1 Jun 1871. He, as well as his sister, Lena E. appear in their grandfather's 1901 Estate. (Charles Ault of Shelby, Ohio and Lena Ault of Rockcreek, Ohio). Fellow researchers claim that Laura bore a son and three daughters, Lena birth date unknown, Sarah born 13 Dec 1880, and one additional daughter prior to her death on 23 May 1883.

Laura was interred in the New Leroy Cemetery, Westfield Township, Medina County, Ohio. In 2002, her monument, an upright pinacle, read: Laura E., wife of Wm Ault, died May 23, 1883, aged 34y, 6m, 13d. In addition to the said, was a footstone marked 'Mother'. Her grave is located in the second row west of the east drive. Her brother-in-law, Frank Ault adjoins to the east. The New Leroy Cemtery is located on the south side of Greenwich Road (CR 97) 1000 feet west of the Westfield Circle, and adjoins the Westfield Insurance Company property (formerly that of J.E. Shaw).

William Ault, widowed one and one-half years, married Ida Baughman on 31 Dec 1884 in Medina Co., Ohio. He taught school for two years, was a farmer, a lawyer, and the Mayor of Wadsworth for two terms. He became the Postmaster of Wadsworth in 1915.
