I was married to "Jacks" sister back in the 70's and 80's. We were good friends and would frequent night clubs back in the day.Jack lived in Middletown, NY Orange County and I lived in Wurtsboro NY Sullivan County. It was during this time period that I noticed that Jack was beginning to travel a very dangerous road which included illegal substances and some fairly heavy drinking.Jack owned and operated a small convenience store which by all accounts was doing very well. The expendable cash seems to have made the after hours partying easy. It was not long before the store was gone and Jack was in some very serious financial straights.
He moved to Colorado in order to be close to his immediate family. I have been told that his substance abuse caused Jack to make some very bad decisions,to the point of rendering him practically homeless. It seems the only people he would associate with during this time were the other drug users and dealers that kept him supplied.
So here you see the result for a man who had everything, including a thriving business a beautiful wife and two young sons. The results you might expect from hard work and a sense of responsibility. So what went wrong??????????? In a word...........DRUGS!!!!!!!!!!! His life literally thrown away for the pleasure of a short drug high............Where are his drug friends now???????????? Oh, there thay are, in the other graves filled with lost souls just like Jack.
I prefer to remember the vibrant person I knew way back when we lived in NY.
You are missed and frequently thought of.
I hope you are at peace old friend.
