Shirley Mae Alman was the daughter of Josephine Mary Callahan (1898-1989) and Maxwell 'Max' Alman (1892-1965).

She married Claude Marion Duncan (1913-1961) about 1938 in Los Angeles County, California.
Children:
• Gary Alman (1938-__)
• Claude John (1941-__)
• Charlene Marie Clare (1950-__)

In the late 1940's, while Claude was a Detective on the Burbank Police Department, Shirley became involved in a "Pyramid Club" which involved having a coffee party in your home and everyone present put a dollar in an envelope which was sent to the person on the top of the list for the day. The police were very much against the scheme. When her name came to the top of the list, she received several hundred dollars and Claude had a fit.

Shirley and Claude were separated or divorced before 1960.

Shirley then married Charles H. 'Charlie' Vaughn (1914-1968) on February 28, 1968 in San Diego, San Diego County, California. Charlie was born April 20, 1914 in Texas, the son of Lee Emma Whitfield and Robert Pinkney Vaughn. Charlie H. Vaughn died on July 11, 1968 in San Diego County, California.

Shirley is buried beside Claude. The Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park records have her listed as Shirley M. Vaughn, although her headstone states Shirley Mae Duncan.
