(Lafayette, Indiana, Newspaper, Thursday June 2, 1910)

The death of William J Abrams at the State Soldiers home last evening recalls one of the most sensational murders that was ever committed in Indianapolis. It was the killing of Mr and Mrs Young for which Mrs Nancy Clemm, their neighbor and friend was tried three times before she was convicted. She was defended by the late Major Jonathan W Gordon, one of the greatest criminal lawyer in Indiana. Abrams was convicted for complicity in the crime, although the evidence against him was not very strong, and he served a number of years in the penitentiary at Michigan city. Abrams was born in Rush county on October 7, 1833, and was admitted to the home from Marion county on July31, 1903. He was out for a short time, during which time he lived in this city, and was readmitted in 1906. He died last evening at 8:10 o'clock, from pneumonia. He had a good record as a soldier, having served for three years in the seventy-ninth Indiana. He leaves a widow, who is a member of the home. Mr Abrams conduct while at the home was excellent. He was reticent and avoided association with the other members, but his habits were good and he enjoyed the confidence and respect of the officers of the home. He was devoted to his wife and they were seldom separated. The remains will be interred in the Home Cemetery, the time for the funeral has not been set.
