Mr. Lee Raymond Wilkins, 73, of 274 Bald Hill Loop, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at his residence after a long battle with heart disease and Alzheimer.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 in the chapel of Ray Funeral Home with Reverend Wanda Lancaster officiating. Burial followed at Woodland Cemetery.

Mr. Wilkins was born August 11, 1935 in Stokes County to the late Willie Wilkins and Nannie Reid Wilkins. He was previously employed with Gainor Hosiery and Stancil Hosiery. He was an avid gardener and golfer who loved spending time with his golfing buddies at the Ponderosa Golf Course.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddis Wilkins, William Wilkins, and Ronnie Wilkins; and one sister, Ruthie Sizemore.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Bullins Wilkins of the home; one daughter, Sandra Kay Wilkins of Madison; two granddaughters, Kristin Burns Martin and husband Josh, and Kelly Burns Spencer and husband Todd; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Martin and Ryan Martin; one sister, Susie King of Pine Hall; and special nephew and friend, Lester Stanley.
