CRAB ORCHARD - Eddy Wayne Hopkins, 55, of Crab Orchard passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at his home. He was the husband of Suanne Phillippe Hopkins, whom he married on June 24, 1972.

Born on March 17, 1953, in Stanford, Ky., he was the son of Elby Hopkins (1931-2009) and Loretta Naylor Hopkins of Crab Orchard. Eddy was a former employee of Whirlpool, having worked 24 years, and a member of Crab Orchard Church of Christ. Eddy was a well-known Bluegrass musician and a member of Eddy Hopkins and Son Bluegrass Band and the Blue Dawg Kentucky New Grass Band.

Other survivors include his wife, Suanne Hopkins of Crab Orchard; a son, Adam and wife Jeana Hopkins of Harrodsburg; a brother, Lester and wife Shelley Hopkins of Crab Orchard; sisters, Sandy and husband Marshall Scott of Crab Orchard and Chelsea Hopkins of Crab Orchard; two grandchildren, Aubrey and John Mason; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Hopkins, on Aug. 26, 1994.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home by Bro. Mark Raulerson. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Crissy McLaren, Missy Kemp, Jessica Fletcher, Clay Hopkins, Marshall Brown Scott, John Scott, Rachel, Matthew and Lucas Hopkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Fletcher, Jerry Petrey, Ronnie Sizemore, Ralph Baker, Larry Miller, Tony Rice, Jeff Cain and Greg Ives.
